The subject line is very important.

Keep it short and catchy

If you are writing to support or oppose a specific bill or issue, put the bill number or topic in the title.

Step 4: Write your message

A greeting for each eleted' will be automatically included.

Express your interest and opinion in neutral, succinct terms.

Provide any personal experience you have with the issue.

Include in your message a request to the legislator (vote a certain way, support an amendment, call you back, etc.)

Thank the legislator for their attention to your issue.

Legislators often e-mail a response, so be prepared to follow-up.
